King-Chavez High School

King Chavez High School is a public charter school in San Diego. It’s mission is to serve the residents of Barrio Logan by providing a solid education designed specifically for that community’s needs. Through the passion and dedication of it’s teachers, staff, and administrators, test scores have been raised, attendance rates have been elevated and students are being better prepared for college and the workforce.

The video was developed to introduce San Diego businesses to the school and solicit their involvement. Area businesses interested in supporting the school and its mission can contribute by offering internship opportunities or speaking at “power lunches”. Visit the school’s internship website or main website for more details.

Patrica Kor

Fun, vibrant, and with a passion for both her business and empowering other women, Patricia Kor is the mastermind behind Patricia Kor Accessories. Originally from Argentina and now residing in San Diego, Patricia designs a colorful line of women’s accessories including handbags, wallets, and shoes.

I first met Patricia at a marketing seminar I presented to the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and had the opportunity to chat with her further at a mixer that followed. I was immediately drawn in by her style and sense of humor.

When you are the face of your business, branding takes on a new realm of importance. I feel privileged that Patricia entrusted me to produce her first video and look forward to collaborating with her on future projects.

For more information on Patricia’s designs, visit her online store or check out her blog. She also tweets.

Mexamerica

“We need something that will stand out.” That was one of the driving factors in Mexamerica’s decision to develop a video for their website. In the competitive business of cross-border freight, San Diego-based Mexamerica wanted to have marketing that differentiated them from others in their industry and communicated their unique strengths such as bi-national operations and direct deliveries between the ports of Los Angeles and the factories in Tijuana.

Filming on the US-Mexico border did have its challenges. While shooting, we wandered into the middle of a crime scene investigation (the discovery of a drug smuggling tunnel) and were stopped by US Border Patrol to question our activity (“exactly what are you folks recording?”). To top that off, some good-sized dust clouds from the dry terrain engulfed us now and then leaving a thin layer of grime clothes, bags, and equipment. Yet all of these surprises just added to the adventure and in then end we were able to document the Mexamerica story.

Ernesto and Roberto Lozano were terrific to work with, and I wish them a great deal of success in 2011 as they celebrate 20 years of business.

I think we washed the mouse cord before he stuck it in his mouth. In a few years all cable USB connections will be a thing of the past, right?
