This morning I had the privilege of attending the 27th Annual YMCA of San Diego County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Dignity Award Breakfast. It was a terrific event that was well-organized and very well-attended with over 1,000 participants. The program honored both Dr. King’s legacy and this year’s award recipient Ambrose Brodus Jr.
The keynote address, delivered by Rev. Dr. Arthur Cribbs, Jr., was very moving and covered a range of issues from civil and immigrant rights to marriage equality, the Occupy Wall Street movement, and the divisive factions forming due to diverse beliefs. The next time Dr. Cribbs speaks in San Diego, I will definitely try to make it.

Casper waits patiently by our table at a sidewalk cafe near Balboa Park. The air was a bit chilly (for San Diego) that morning. He either is awaiting his portion of breakfast or thinking “Hurry up! I want to head back to the park”.

Casper. Happy. In Balboa Park. Posing for my iPhone. Ready to pounce on some squirrels.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic 2012.
2011 was filled with great client projects that kept me running non-stop through the end of December yet unfortunately the photoblog ended up on the back burner. But not in 2012! (fingers crossed).
The goal is to return to posting visual diary images with much more frequency. Between my iPhone, DSLR, and GoPro I always have a camera with me so it really is a question of pausing, being mindful, and making it happen.
2012 resolution = make it happen.
This is another image from the Maui trip mentioned in yesterday’s photoblog post. It was taken from the summit area at Haleakala.
I’ve decided I really need to start updating the photoblog with a bit more frequency. I’ve been so focused on client projects recently that the blog has fallen to the back burner. I had also thought of writing more articles on web video marketing but have since decided those would be best saved for well-designed PDFs to share with my clients.

A couple months back we had the chance to get out of San Diego for a week in Maui. This image was taken when we visited Haleakala National Park. Volcanic activity formed most of the terrain and the views from the summit are spectacular. The prickly plants in this image are the Haleakala silversword which can only be found in this park.
